As the majority of 'off road' cycle routes use canal towpaths or disused railway lines, it is unlikely that a circular route can be found and so one usually picks a start and end point, cycling there and back between the two. Although retracing one's step may seem a tad uninteresting, it is amazing how different the scenery can look on the return journey.

We have discovered that we can comfortably manage about 20 miles of cycling per day, therefore some of the longer off road trails had to be broken up into bite sized pieces.

Campsites were chosen for their close proximity to the various trails, leaving just a short cycle ride between campsite and trail. Unless otherwise stated, all campsites used were Caravan Club certificated locations.

There are more cycling encounters to follow, meanwhile, I would be grateful for information on other jollyinteresting trails or tracks around the country.
