Bure Valley Railway ( Map )
This interesting cycle track runs alongside the narrow gauge Bure Valley Railway line starting in Aylsham in the north and ending in Wroxham in the south.
We knew nothing about this track until we were informed of its existence by a friendly Dutch couple we had met whilst cycling on Marriotts Way the previous day.
As we had not originally planned this trip we had not booked in to a nearby campsite, (although a glance at my Autoroute map shows that are several within easy striking distance) so we parked the camper in the large car park at Aylsham railway station where the track starts.
Our initial intention was to ride on the steam train down to Wroxham and then cycle back, but unfortunately, we had picked one of the rare days in the season when the train wasn't running.
The cycle track is quite narrow in parts as it snakes its way through the Norfolk countryside towards The Broads.
At its end is the Bure Valley railway station which lies next to the main line station at Wroxham.
The town itself can be accessed by cycling through a tunnel which passes under the main railway line then turning right into Norwich Road.
With the visit to the town and the return journey, this was a round trip of 19 miles.
